Donna Fasano's latest release - Nanny and the Professor

Nanny and the Professor
by Donna Fasano
(romance)

Professor Joshua Kingston thought he'd found the perfect nanny for his son. But once Cassie Simmons stepped into his life, she turned it upside down! His son no longer played by the rules – and Cassie kept making up new ones. He would fire her – if he didn't find her so utterly enticing.

Cassie had a huge secret to hide, and she couldn't afford to lose her new job. But her handsome employer wasn't making things easy. All those silly rules. How was an eight-year-old boy supposed to have any fun? The professor definitely needed a lesson in laughter – and love!

Amazon Review  (Mel Comley) - 5 stars
Donna has written yet another winner. A touching story about a father who is overprotective of his son. He employs a nanny to look after him. The story was full of twists and turns. I don't like telling the whole story but I would highly recommend it, you'll love it.

Love always finds a way...

About the Author
Growing up the third child of five--yes, smack dab in the middle and the only girl to boot--Donna Fasano had no idea she would one day become a published author. Her bent for story-telling came to light when she conjured lively tales of pure blarney (yes, she has a bit of Irish in her blood) for, first, her youngest brother, and years later, her children.

Donna sold her first manuscript in 1989, and since then has become a bestselling, award-winning author of over thirty novels and four audio books. She writes under her own name, Donna Fasano, as well as under the pen name Donna Clayton and is known for her "smooth, polished" writing style and for creating "strong, complex" characters. Reviewers have described her stories as "poignant," "richly textured," "enticing," and "absorbing." The writing process can be extremely engrossing for Donna, so much so that she's missed appointments and lunches, and once she even missed her carpool run. Luckily, the people in her life love her enough to make allowances.

Still happily married to her high school sweetheart, she is the mother of two grown sons who have left the nest. She and her husband share their home with Jake, a couch-potato, black and white border collie, and Roo, a spotted tan and cream Australian cattle dog that looks (and acts) like a wild dingo. Donna's spare time is spent reading, hiking, or trying out new recipes from one of the dozens of cookbooks she has collected over the years. Oh, and one night a week she and her hubby nab some alone time from their busy schedules to enjoy a nice glass of wine and a video--preferably a romantic comedy. Donna also volunteers loads of hours to her small church, writing newsletters, scheduling acolytes, working fund-raisers and serving on committees. She divides her time between northern Delaware and Maryland's southern seashore.

Donna loves to hear from her readers. Please contact her through her website at www.DonnaFasano.com.

The beautiful and sexy Marcie Treyhorne is a steel magnolia who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. Marcie's story began in DESERT HEAT. Her saga continues in CABIN FEVER. Marcie leaves the blistering heat of the desert but the searing passion she carries to the northern Nevada mountains will melt the deepest of winter snows. The ending is a twist that will hit you like a runaway train. You won't want to miss this one.

Reader Nina Osier stated, "Once again the Treyhornes' bedroom action fairly scorches the pages, but this time we readers are in for more than a tale of unconventional romance. As we pass through a turning point in Marcie's life with her, the questions she asks herself seem eerily familiar. Enjoyable resolution to what really does turn out to be the second half of a two-part tale.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day - the day of love!

I have an interview that went live today over at Fiction for Desert Blog. What a sweet deal for a romance writer - an interview going live on Valentine's Day! Check it out!

Valentine's Day is a special day, so today I bring you an interview with a special lady - author of romantic tales, Kristie Leigh Maguire.

I first met Kristie at The Spinning Wheel - a virtual bookstore and coffee shop on the discussion boards at Amazon.com. Kristie is the proprietor - readers and writers come together and chat in this virtual world. There is a fireplace, bookshelves galore, a coffee pot, and comfy sofa and a loft where some of the wilder patrons have been known to throw popcorn over the balcony to bounce off the heads of others. It is all in good fun - even if the popcorn isn't real! And there is a porch with a swing, and a path to a pond. But mostly why people come to the spinning wheel is to meet and share with others who love to read and/or write.

Serendipity House by Joyce DeBacco

Sylvie Gardner was a pleaser. She did as her mother pleased, and she did as her fiancé pleased. Then she did as she pleased. Raised by a domineering mother, Sylvie doesn’t like the submissive woman she’s become. Determined to take back her life, she heads to the hills instead of to the altar on her wedding day. Coming across a quaint, country inn with an intriguing name, she impulsively checks into SERENDIPITY HOUSE. Peopled with an odd assortment of characters, the inn has clearly seen better days. Even the regulars have a bit of wear on them. Thus, when debonair Alex Clemenceau arrives and is strangely comfortable vacationing among the geriatric set, Sylvie is suspicious and does her best to ignore him. But Alex will not be ignored, pushing her buttons until she admits, if only to herself that she’s falling in love with him. Not until she’s hired to manage the inn does she learn he’s not the pedigreed gentleman he purports to be, but a streetwise PI hired by her ex to find her. Adding insult to injury, he’s bought the inn and asks for her help in restoring it to its former glory. Forced to work together, both learn about relationships, expectations, and acceptance—among family members as well as strangers who become like family.

Meet Joyce DeBacco
Everyone needs some kind of creative outlet, and I think I've tried them all. I took up the piano a few years ago, having abandoned it as a child. But after two years of lessons, I realized that piano is much easier to learn when you're young. Now, whenever I want to hear soul-stirring piano music, I put on Yanni or some of the classical pieces I love.

My other interests are sewing, which I've enjoyed ever since my grandmother showed me how to sew two pieces of cloth together without any stitches showing. Grandma is gone now, but I always think of her when I make that stitch. Because my need for clothes is minimal—think shorts and tank tops—I turned my skill to curtains, washable slipcovers, and mending. Then I discovered machine quilting. Love it. But, alas, I've run out of beds and wall space in my house.

But throughout all my creative endeavors I've always returned to my first love, writing. Although SERENDIPITY HOUSE is my first published novel, like most writers, I have others taking up space in a drawer. Every so often I take one out, dust it off, and polish it up.

Do you like time travel and romance? Here's one for you!

Susan Squires - A Twist in Time

An expert in Leonardo da Vinci's works, Lucy Rossano recognizes the centuries-old time machine da Vinci said he built the moment she sees it in a Stanford lab. Fascinated in spite of the danger, she uses her knowledge to go back in time-landing in the middle of a fierce battle in tenth-century Britain. Panicked, she escapes to modern-day San Francisco, bringing something back with her: a seductive, fiercely intelligent Viking named Galen.

The presence of this enigmatic, devastatingly sexy stranger is just one of the new complications in Lucy's life. There are others who want to harness the time machine's power for treacherous ends, and they need Lucy to do it. Galen becomes first her protector, then the lover she's always dreamed of. But danger is drawing closer and time is running out. For Galen and Lucy, it's now…or forever.

About Susan

Susan Squires grew up among the giant redwoods of California. She thought she was being practical by changing her major in college from theater to English literature. But, immersed in a PhD. Program, she slowly realized that none of her graduating friends had work. So she dropped out to take an actual paying job in the business world. UCLA gave her a Master's degree as a consolation prize.

But the lure of writing was too bad to resist for long. Now an executive in a Fortune 500 company, one of her many mid-life crises resulted in a return to her love of writing. Her novel, Danegeld, had already been purchased by Dorchester by the time she accepted a Golden Heart for Best Unpublished Manuscript from Romance Writers of America. Part of a five book contract, it was the first of an eclectic group of historical and contemporary paranormal stories known for intensity and failing to follow the rules. Body Electric was named by Publisher's Weekly one of the ten most influential paperbacks of 2002, for blending romance, science-fiction and thrillers. Book List compared No More Lies to the works of Robin Cook and Michael Crichton rather than to other romances, but it was also a Rita finalist for best paranormal romance by Romance Writers of America.

Susan still uses tales of romance and adventure to escape budgets and projects. She now writes for St. Martin's Press. The first of three sensuous vampire romances set in the Regency period will come out in May, 2005. She researches and writes her books at the beach in Southern California, supported by two Belgian Sheepdogs, a warmblood mare and a wonderful husband named Harry who writes occult mysteries as H.R. Knight.

Jennifer Blake - "The Steel Magnolia of Women's Fiction"

From Jennifer Blake's Website:

"Blake's style is as steamy as a still July night on the bayou, as overwhelmingly hot as Cajun spice."

~ Chicago Tribune

Gallent Match
Masters at Arms, Book Five
February, 2009!

Sword master Kerr Wallace agrees to escort headstrong Sonia Bonneval to Mexico for her arranged marriage -- since the groom is the man he's been tracking for years. But the bride will do anything to avoid the wedding...

About Jennifer Blake
Jennife Blake has been called the Steel Magnolia of women's fiction, and a "legend of the romance genre." She is a seventh generation Louisianian who married at 15, began writing at 21, sold her first book at 27, and gained New York Times Best Seller status more than 20 years ago, with LOVE'S WILD DESIRE. She has written more than 50 books, including ROYAL SEDUCTION, SHAMELESS, and her acclaimed Louisiana Gentlemen series. An international best seller as well, she has been published in 18 languages with worldwide sales approaching 30 million. She was honored with the position as Writer-in-Residence for the University of Northeastern Louisiana, and is a charter, and honorary, member of Romance Writers of America.

Numerous awards for her work have been gained over the years. Among those she values most, however, are the Golden Treasure Award for Lifetime Achievement from Romance Writers of America, induction into both the RWA and Affaire de Coeur Romance Halls of Fame, and the Frank Waters Award for Excellence in Fiction.

Since 1998, Jennifer and her husband have resided in a lakeside Caribbean-styled retreat in North Louisiana where they often entertain friends and family. Always a gardener, she spends much of her free time encouraging her newly planted garden to bloom with her favorite daylilies and antique roses. When not gardening, she enjoys collecting antiques, painting, and needlework, including quilting.

Still, evenings find her and her husband lounging on one of the expansive verandas, sipping café au lait or a cool drink and listening to the gentle lap of waves. Here, as Jennifer says in her own words, "I write my fantasies of love and adventure in the romantic South. And sometimes, when I sit on the porch with the sunlight falling across the lawn and the smells of magnolia, sweet olive, honeysuckle and roses wafting on the warm air, I live them."

About Jennifer's Pseudonyms
During a career spanning more than 30 years, Jennifer has written under several pen names and in a variety of genres. She began with Gothic mystery-suspense tales, writing eight of these for Fawcett Gold Medal and Popular Library as Patricia Maxwell between 1970 and 1978, as well as a historical romance under that name in 1977. A single collaborative effort in the Gothic genre, STORM AT MIDNIGHT, was released in 1973 as Elizabeth Trehearne and, following the decline of the Gothic market, she wrote a murder mystery and a suspense tale under the pseudonym of Patricia Ponder. Six light contemporary romances were penned as Maxine Patrick for New American Library between 1978 and 1980, but the break out of her first Jennifer Blake title, LOVE'S WILD DESIRE, as a New York Times Best Seller in 1977, focused her attention on the historical romance market. Over the next decade, fourteen historicals were produced for Fawcett/Ballantine. Some of her older titles, originally published under other names, have been reissued under the Blake pseudonym. They appear in paperback and also in large print and library hard cover editions. They are currently available online and as print on demand copies at retail outlets which have this capacity.

Are you too old for sex?

Yesterday I was at Rum Runners, a delightful little harbour-side restaurant, with my husband having Sunday brunch. A more romantic place may exist but I would be hard pressed to name one.

Close your eyes and come wit me to my Island, mon.

America's Paradise. St. Croix. Virgin Islands. Caribbean Sea. Tropical tradewinds. Steel pan band playing. The sight and sound of the waves. The scent of tropical flowers wafting in the breeze. Boats in the harbour. Blue skies. Sun shining. Crabs running loose trying to nibble your toes peaking through your sandals. Dress up Sunday sun dress. Sipping a Bloody Mary while waiting on your food to be cooked.

I took my Bloody Mary and went to the bar to have a cigarette. Sat beside a woman reading a book from her e-reader. Struck up a conversation with her since writing is my game and besides I was curious as to what type e-reader she had. I thought it looked like my Kindle but not really. Come to find out it was a Sony e-reader.

Found out that she liked Nora Roberts books.

Oh, so you like to read romance, I asked her, thinking to myself that here may be new reader for my romance books that I write.

Oh, not just any romance, she replied, I like fantasy and paranormal.

I thought to myself, and you like to read Nora Roberts?! I write romance, I said. Not just any old romance though. I don't write sweet romance. Mine are hot and spicy. Maybe you'd like to check me out and order my books for your e-reader, I said and handed her my card.

Oh I don't think so, she replied. I'm too old for sex.

Now that set me back a bit as I thought about how to reply to that. Well, are you too old to dream, I asked her. Read my books and remember how it was in your heyday.

Sizzling Hot Romance now available on KINDLE!

I am very happy to announce that I have finally gotten with it and entered the KINDLE age for my blog, Sizzling Hot Romance from Kristie Leigh Maguire. For a limited time Amazon is having a 14 day trial subscription so it will cost you NOTHING to subscribe. If you don't like it you can cancel. If you do like it, then it will only cost you $1.99 per month to get my blog downloaded to your KINDLE. I am not the one who set the price. Amazon does that. But I really don't think $1.99 a month is too much to ask if you prefer reading from your KINDLE.

Now that I have entered the KINDLE AGE with my blog, I am determined to be more diligent in posting...and in having interesting articles for you to read. I have some great thoughts running through my head as to how to improve my blog.

BUT...I would like to hear what YOU want to read. Would you like for me to have guest authors blog here? Would you like for me to do interviews with other authors? Would you like for me to suggest books for you to read in the romance genre?

YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE HERE! I am very open to suggestions.

Amazon.com rankings - does anyone understand the system?

I have never understood the sales rankings that Amazon.com posts for books. I know that the lower the number the higher the ranking. I use to think it was the other way around, the higher the number the better the ranking but that is not the case. I don't know what it means when there is no ranking at all posted by a book. Does this mean that the book hasn't even sold 1 copy on Amazon?

I have also never understood how Amazon comes up with their list of best-selling books under genres and even sub-genres (i.e. romance, then with the sub-genre of sensual romance which is the category that I write).

Just today I did a search under Amazon Kindle books (I have 4 of my titles released in the Kindle version) for sensual romance. My novel Desert Heat is listed as Number 15 and my novel Cabin Fever is listed as Number 21 out of 119 books on the BEST SELLING sensual romance books list.

This is copied and pasted from the Amazon site:
Kindle StoreKindle Books › "sensual romance"

21. Cabin Fever (Affairs of the Heart) by Kristie Leigh Maguire (Kindle Edition - Jan 15, 2009) - Kindle Book

However when I go to the Amazon Kindle pages for Desert Heat and Cabin Fever, there are no sales rankings listed. Does this mean that NO copies of those books have been sold? If that is the case how are they Number 15 and Number 21 on the Best-Selling Sensual Romance Books at the Amazon Kindle Store?

When I did the same search but had it sorted by RELEVANCE instead of BEST SELLING, my Cabin Fever book came up as Number 1 and my Desert Heat book came up as Number 6.

This is copied and pasted from Amazon:

As I said, it is all a mystery to me. I have never found anyone who understands the system. I have an author friend who knows someone who works for Amazon. According to the friend of my friend, even Amazon doesn't understand how their system works. Do YOU?

A 5 Star Review for Affairs of the Heart by Kristie Leigh Maguire
Purchase NOW at Amazon.com

Award-winning author Kristie Leigh Maguire has combined two of her best loved books into one volume. Desert Heat and Cabin Fever can now be enjoyed in the book, Affairs of the Heart. What a wonderful gift to readers!

Marcie, the main character, takes your breath away as she lives the fantasies that women (and men) only dream of, and rarely admit.

Marcie's story is that of a happily married woman who fights the attraction between herself and her new boss. Can one woman truly love two men at the same time? Can one woman enjoy physical and emotional bonds with two men? Maguire gives us the answers.

Secondary plot twists add to the suspense as Marcie's life becomes more and more entangled with her two loves, Steve and Jim. Her climatic decision comes down to physical desires and emotional well-being played against spiritual considerations and the stability of a long-standing marriage. Her decision may surprise you.

Kristie Leigh Maguire pushes the boundaries between romance and erotica, giving her readers heart-pounding sensual sensations within a dynamic plot. Don't miss Affairs of the Heart.

An Excerpt from Desert Heat

The kiss turned passionate as his tongue tangled with hers. His hips ground against her. She moaned and her knees went weak as she felt his erection pressing against her. She could feel how hard he was. She reached down, stroking him through his slacks. He slipped his leg between hers and she rode it as she stroked him. She took his hand, put it on her aching breast and he pinched her nipple through her bra and dress. She was wet and aching for him. They both were trembling as they strained to get closer to each other through the barrier of their clothes. They were on fire with desire.

“Marcie, we’ve got to stop,” Jim groaned in agony as she stood trembling in his arms. “What if somebody knocks on the door? If anybody walks by outside, they can see us through the windows.”

“Oh God, Jim! I want you so bad I hurt!”

“I know, baby, I know. I do, too,” he whispered. “I didn’t mean for this to happen when I called you in here. I can’t believe things got out of hand so fast.”

“It’s like putting a match to one of the creosote bushes out in the desert,” she whispered back. “Just a little spark and suddenly there’s a raging inferno.”

He hugged her tight for a moment longer, and then stepped back. He grinned at her. “Your face is all flushed, sweetheart, and you look like you have just been very thoroughly kissed.”

“I have just been thoroughly kissed, Jim,” she smiled back at him. “I can’t go back to my office looking like this and I don’t think you want anyone seeing you like this, either,” she laughed as she ran her hand over the telltale bulge in his pants.

He looked down at himself and laughed. “You’re right. One look at us now and the game is up.”

Excerpt from Cabin Fever

She lay back in the fragrant bubbles. Her nerve endings tingled as she ran her hand lightly over her body. She caressed her breasts, gently pinching the nipples. They peaked into hard little buds. She ran her fingertips teasingly down her belly, touching herself between her legs.

Oh, that feels good!

She gently massaged that sensitive little nub of flesh. She closed her eyes, fantasizing that it was Jim’s hand rubbing her moist hot center.

Oh yes, my love, yes! That feels wonderful!

Soft lips kissed her and she moaned.

Yes, yes, kiss me, Jim. It’s been so long, baby!

Jim’s hand continued to caress her sensitive little nub as he kissed her, his tongue tangling with hers.

Suddenly hot lips claimed her nipple, sucking gently. Is that you, Steve? Oh, yes, I’ve missed this so much!

Jim nibbled her ear, blowing into it softly as he slid his finger into her, in and out, in and out.
Yes, like that, honey! Oh please don’t stop, I’m almost there!

Her climax was building. She was right on the edge. Steve’s mouth left her breast. She felt his tongue on her sensitive little nub as Jim’s finger continued sliding in and out. Steve flicked her hard little nub with his hot tongue, pushing her over the edge of the cliff.

She gasped as she fell into the dark void below. Her body trembled as her climax flowed over her with tiny little ripples.

She softly floated back down to reality, lying still and relaxed in the hot strawberry scented water.
