* Email from the Edge
is the actual correspondence between an expatriate wife and a Houston housewife who laughed and cried as they shared each other's life on-line almost every day for seven months. You will laugh and cry also as you read this story of deep friendship and understanding. I highly recommend Emails from the Edge to anyone who has at any time dreaded grocery shopping or spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.

These two women are tough. They are true survivors. A must read book that will leave you laughing and crying. Ms. Maguire's book is definitely a wake-up call to the many spouses of those who move to foreign countries. Email from the Edge defies today's world of political correctness where every word is carefully censored so as not to offend anyone. Kristie Leigh Maguire is open, honest, and sometimes over-the-top funny in her email correspondence with her friend back in the States with whom she shares her thoughts and feelings while living overseas as an expatriate wife during the decade of the 90s. Emails from the Edge, gives the reader the feeling of being a voyeur, pulling back the curtain of friendship, and finding out they are not just talking about milk and cookies.

USA Today Bestselling Author Rebecca Forster had this to say, "A bold, honest look at how two cultures collide and lessons learned. Some may think KLM politically incorrect; I say she is courageous to share her honest feelings and inner thoughts. It is really gutsy and fascinating."

Back Cover Blurb:
Saipan is a tropical island with clear blue waters, sandy beaches, tropical flowers, swaying palm trees, gentle breezes and warm and friendly Micronesian South Pacific natives - plus the added bonus of being a U.S. territory with American goods in the stores and with American money as the local currency. What more could a girl ask for?

All of the Japanese people on the tour were oooohing and ahhhhing over all the duty free shops and souvenirs. I was in the local version of Wal-Mart, oooohing and ahhhhing over shampoo and conditioner, body lotion, Pepto Bismol, Tylenol and Motrin - and generally running wild through the aisles like a crazy woman!

I got up before dawn each day and sat out on my balcony by myself while my husband slept. As I watched the sun come up, peace flooded my soul. That old church song, "Precious
Memories", kept playing itself in my mind like Daddy used to sing it in church. I sat out there and watched the colors tint the clouds and the ocean waters while the refrain of "Precious memories, unseen angels, how they ever flood my soul, in the stillness of the midnight, precious memories scenes unfold" played over and over in my head.

I was reborn. I found myself again. I knew that I was on the edge but I had not realized how close I had come to losing myself till that moment.

Today I'm introducing you to author Kristie Leigh Maguire. We are featuring her western romance novel, Second Chances: Love Lost, Love Found.

Kristie has lived such a fascinating life. Here's a little about Kristie and her books taken directly from her website:

Kristie Leigh Maguire and her husband have lived all over the United States and many foreign countries while following his career. While living in Japan in 1997, she found it very difficult to find books to read that were written in English. This situation was intolerable as she was an avid reader and had been known to resort to reading cereal boxes if nothing else was available. Have you ever tried to read a cereal box written in Japanese? It was not a pretty picture. Ms. Maguire began writing her own books just to have something to read. She discovered a new passion in writing.

The Affaire de Coeur Magazine named Kristie Leigh Maguire the Best Up and Coming Romance Author of the Year and her book Desert Heat as Romance of the Year in 2003. Her novels Cabin Fever and No Lady and Her Tramp placed in the Top Ten at the Preditor & Editors Poll. Her latest release Second Chances was Number 2 on the Best Seller List in Western Romances at Amazon.com.

Marcie leaves the blistering heat of the desert but the searing passion she carries to the northern Nevada mountains will melt the deepest of winter snows. The ending is a twist that will hit you like a runaway train. You won't want to miss this one.

Reader Nina Osier stated, "Once again the Treyhornes' bedroom action fairly scorches the pages, but this time we readers are in for more than a tale of unconventional romance. Made It Moment: Kristie Leigh Maguire

This Made It Moment achieves two things I love. First, it’s by an author I met in an online writing (reading) forum. I enjoy spending time in such places second only to bookstores probably. Second, Kristie Leigh is one of the kindest, gracious most people I’ve ever met in one, and her attitude toward this crazy business is both realistic and affirming. Read on and I think you’ll see what I mean.

Emails from the Edge: Memoirs of an Expat Wife

Kristie Leigh Maguire defies today's world of political correctness in Emails from the Edge, her memoirs as an expatriate wife during the turbulent decade of the 90s. Her lifeline with the "real world" was emails with her friend back in the States. By sharing excerpts of these emails with the world, KLM presents a raw and brutally honest look at her experiences in a land where she could not speak the language and in a culture very unfamiliar to her in all aspects. In a way it is like being a voyeur, pulling back the curtain of friendship, and finding out they are not just talking about milk and cookies. People may not gush over this book but it will make them stop and think...or it should.

Take a deep look within as you read Emails from the Edge in the comfort of surroundings that are familiar to you. Could you have handled the situation any better if you had been in KLM's shoes? Maybe. Maybe not.

USA Today Bestselling Author Rebecca Forster had this to say, "A bold, honest look at how two cultures collide and lessons learned. Some may think KLM politically incorrect; I say she is courageous to share her honest feelings and inner thoughts. It is really gutsy and fascinating."

Aww… It’s all right. No, really, I understand. Come on over, pull up a chair. Yeah, that’s right. Get comfortable. Are you comfy? Good. Here’s a tissue. Wipe those tears from your eyes. Don’t take bad reviews personally.

Happy Easter!

All I need to know
I learned from the Easter Bunny!
Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
There's no such thing as too much candy.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
A cute tail attracts a lot of attention.
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day.
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits.
Some body parts should be floppy.
Keep your paws off of other people's jelly beans.
Good things come in small, sugar coated packages.
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket.
To show your true colors, you have to come out of the shell.
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey.
May the joy of the season fill your heart.
AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

L. Mihay posted this great review at Amazon.com:
Mike & Jane have grown up, together, on neighboring ranches, kissed & declared their love for one another at 13 & 12. It's always been assumed that they would marry, but suddenly Mike goes off the deep end, marrying a total stranger he met 2 weeks before. Is Jane upset. You BET!!!! This is a story of love rocked to the core by betrayal. Do the characters react like you think they should? Not a chance...BUT they react like real people (some, at least) do.

In the background is Jane's widower Father, and Mike's widowed Mother, who finally admit that they don't think of each other as Brother & Sister any more. Second chances do happen, and watching this undercurrent develop is endearing.

This is a clean book, of heartbreak, love and second chances.

You've Got Mail from Japan (memoirs/travel)
Margie and Sandy, two American expatriate women, meet and become friends while living in Saudi Arabia. After their husbands' assignments were completed, both women returned to their homes in the United States: Margie to Nevada and Sandy to Texas. Margie soon accompanies her husband on to his next assignment to Japan while Sandy remains at home surrounded by her family and friends.

Some things are very private--diaries, phone calls, letters, and emails between friends. You've Got Mail from Japan lifts that veil of privacy. This book contains actual emails exchanged between Margie and Sandy, with all the 'warts' and misspellings as they were written, on an almost daily basis over the course of a year. The writing is real and down to earth, as only emails between good friends can be.

Step into Margie and Sandy's world. Follow their incredible, somewhat quirky and offbeat journey as it actually happened. Share their times of joy, times of sadness, times of highs, and times of lows. The friendship between these two women shines from the pages and you feel as if you have eavesdropped on a private conversation, but accidentally, and then they smile at you and welcome you into their circle of friendship.

One reader stated, "I love this book! It is like I have broken into someone's computer, hacked their email, and now I am looking at all the juicy details...wow, this is fun!"

You CAN judge a book by its cover!

My book, No Lady and Her Tramp, has been my best selling book out of all my 5 titles that I have available in ebook format. Sales have been fabulous. So why would I mess with a good thing? You know the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

But the more I looked at the cover for No Lady, the more I knew it didn't quite tell the story of what was behind that cover. No Lady is a whacky over the top satire. A funny offbeat poke at the romance genre. I wanted a book cover to reflect this. And now I've got it!

Drum roll, please, for the big reveal!

A quirky hysterically hilarious read that is down and dirty!

The steamy, very descriptive sex in No Lady and Her Tramp puts Harold Robbins’ books to shame. The one thing Mr. Robbins’ books did not have is the humor that illuminates in this work of art.

No Lady is one woman’s accounting of the trials, tribulations, and antics of her life, and all of the other colorful characters (some even use the politically incorrect term of trailer trash to describe them) who live in President Park, a run down trailer park in Grapevine, Kentucky.

You may find the palms of your hands sweat, among other things, from the titillating sex that fill the pages. You will also find yourself laughing aloud, as humor runs consistently throughout the book.

These two authors, Kristie Leigh Maguire and Mark Haeuser, by putting their talents together, have written a very funny book laced with pure, unadulterated steam.

Affairs of the Heart by Kristie Leigh Maguire

2 award-winning books under 1 cover!

Desert Heat and Cabin Fever together under one cover in a collector's edition. From the blistering sands of California's Mojave Desert to the glittering neon lights of Las Vegas, Marcie Treyhorne sweeps you away into a world of sex and passion in Desert Heat. Marcie's adventures continue in the mountains of northern Nevada in Cabin Fever. Enter Marcie's world...if you dare!

5 star review:
Award-winning author Kristie Leigh Maguire has combined two of her best loved books into one volume. Desert Heat and Cabin Fever can now be enjoyed in the book, Affairs of the Heart. What a wonderful gift to readers!

Marcie, the main character, takes your breath away as she lives the fantasies that women (and men) only dream of, and rarely admit.

Marcie's story is that of a happily married woman who fights the attraction between herself and her new boss. Can one woman truly love two men at the same time? Can one woman enjoy physical and emotional bonds with two men? Maguire gives us the answers.

Secondary plot twists add to the suspense as Marcie's life becomes more and more entangled with her two loves, Steve and Jim. Her climatic decision comes down to physical desires and emotional well-being played against spiritual considerations and the stability of a long-standing marriage. Her decision may surprise you.

Kristie Leigh Maguire pushes the boundaries between romance and erotica, giving her readers heart-pounding sensual sensations within a dynamic plot. Don't miss Affairs of the Heart.

Jane Porter's dreams of marrying Mike Farley, the handsome cowboy who lives on the neighboring ranch, are shattered when Mike suddenly marries a redheaded stranger he met at the Wild Horse Saloon in Casper, Wyoming. After Mike stomped all over Jane's heart with his cowboy boots, can Jane ever trust her heart to a man again?

Mike Farley marries beautiful Samantha Jo Smith after a whirlwind courtship with no thought to Jane Porter, his childhood sweetheart and the woman everyone in Fremont County thought he would marry one day. Mike soon learns to regret his hasty marriage to Samantha. Can Mike win back Jane's heart even though he had shattered it into a million pieces?

Longtime friends and neighbors Jim Porter and Liz Farley turn to each other for support after the unexpected death of their spouses. Will Jim and Liz's friendship turn into something deeper even though they both feel they have had, and lost, their chance at love?

Is it ever too late for love? Is it ever too late for second chances?

Set in rural Wyoming, Second Chances is a sweet contemporary western romance that will warm your heart. One reader stated, "I read it through in an evening, and felt as if I had spent that evening with 'salt of the earth' folk." Another reader said, "I loved the double, no triple, second chances. It was a very sweet ending."

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day - the day of love!

I have an interview that went live today over at Fiction for Desert Blog. What a sweet deal for a romance writer - an interview going live on Valentine's Day! Check it out!

Valentine's Day is a special day, so today I bring you an interview with a special lady - author of romantic tales, Kristie Leigh Maguire.

I first met Kristie at The Spinning Wheel - a virtual bookstore and coffee shop on the discussion boards at Amazon.com. Kristie is the proprietor - readers and writers come together and chat in this virtual world. There is a fireplace, bookshelves galore, a coffee pot, and comfy sofa and a loft where some of the wilder patrons have been known to throw popcorn over the balcony to bounce off the heads of others. It is all in good fun - even if the popcorn isn't real! And there is a porch with a swing, and a path to a pond. But mostly why people come to the spinning wheel is to meet and share with others who love to read and/or write.

No Lady!

No Lady and Her Tramp by Kristie Leigh Maguire and Mark Haeuser is A quirky hysterically hilarious read that is down and dirty!

Download to your Kindle or Nook for only $2.99.

5 star review from Steve Carpenter:
Anyone who has ever lived in, driven by, or even thought about life in a trailer park will laugh out loud at the goings on in No lady and Her Tramp.

Beth Ann Dixon gets her hands on a computer and sets about writing a romance novel. Her efforts are complicated by the various hilarious characters who live in President's Park: Beth Ann's drunkard husband Billy Ray, the small-town gossip columnist and full-time busybody Shirley Snodgrass, and Billy Ray's drunken, idiotic bunch of friends (they decide to pull off a military-style mission but can't figure out how to synchronize their watches).

I have not read much from this genre, but I've read enough to know that one can expect plenty of steamy scenes, and the book doesn't hold back on that front, so reader be warned.

But what truly took me by surprise was the humor. Whether it's sex, love, gossip, ambition, or just plain stupidity, the world of the story is populated with characters that are very, very funny and surprisingly real.
