No Lady and Her Tramp
Top Ten - Preditors & Editors Poll

An Amazon reviewer stated, "...if you like a book filled with sex (Linda Lovelace would have a 'hard' time keeping up), revenge, espionage (trailer park style), gossip (move over Barbara Eden-Harper Valley), feuding neighbors (yeah, Hatfields and McCoys), I guarantee, you will not be disappointed."

No Lady and Her Tramp will have you rolling in the aisles as you follow the exploits of the residents of President Park, the trailer park to top all trailer parks. When Beth Ann Dixon buys herself a computer and decides to write a steamy erotic novel, her husband, Billy Ray, can't do much of anything right, not even shoot a gun. Janet Higgins is the resident Peeping Tom - and Troy Finkmyer is the guy we all love to hate. Everybody gets into the act and there are showdowns all over Grapevine - Grapevine, Kentucky that is. Shirley Snodgrass is the local gossip columnist for the Grapevine Gazette and records it all in her column, 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine'.

These two authors, Kristie Leigh Maguire and Mark Haeuser, by putting their talents together, have written a very funny book laced with pure, unadulterated steam.

Author Bio:
Kristie and her husband have lived all over the United States and many foreign countries while following his career. While living in Japan in 1997, she found it very difficult to find books to read that were written in English. This situation was intolerable as she was an avid reader and had been known to resort to reading cereal boxes if nothing else was available. Have you ever tried to read a cereal box written in Japanese? It was not a pretty picture. Ms. Maguire began writing her own books just to have something to read. She discovered a new passion in writing.

Although Kristie is originally from the South and will always remain Southern at heart, she and her husband live in Nevada. During her expatriate years she lived in St. Croix, Aruba, Thailand, Japan and three times in Saudi Arabia as well as visiting many other countries.

No Lady and Her Tramp
Big Al's Books and Pals ...This book is satire. It's supposed to be slightly over the top like a caricature. It isn't the book for those who think anything beyond a kiss is too much sex or that sex is too serious to laugh at. It's not for someone from a small town who feels they're inferior because of it. But for those with the ability to recognize their own foibles and still laugh. For those who can see the humor in the human condition with all its warts exposed. This is the book for you.

Second Chances: Love Lost, Love Found
A sweet contemporary western romance that will warm your heart. One reader stated, "I read it through in an evening, and felt as if I had spent that evening with 'salt of the earth' folk." Another reader said, "I loved the double, no triple, second chance. It was a very sweet ending."

As we pass through a turning point in Marcie's life with her, the questions she asks herself seem eerily familiar. Enjoyable resolution to what really does turn out to be the second half of a two-part tale.

Kindle for PC now available at Amazon.com

Got a Kindle? I do. I purchased mine several months ago and really enjoy it. It is a fantastic reader. I bought mine on Ebay and got a fairly decent price for it and saved a few bucks off the list price at Amazon.com. Then Amazon started dropping their price for their Kindle until it was well below the price that I paid for mine even on Ebay.

Now Amazon.com has released a FREE download of Kindle for your PC. I thought the purpose of having the Kindle was to be able to cut the strings from your computer for reading ebooks.

Oh well. I broke down and downloaded my free copy of Kindle for PC this morning. Looks great and it is syncronized with my Kindle reader. Now I have the best of both worlds.

Happy reading!

The smallest library I've ever seen

As many of you who follow me know, I have a foot in two worlds ... southern Nevada and St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. I have a condo in both places and divide my time between the two. Nevada is as different from St. Croix as night is from day. One is a tropical paradise and the other is a desert, both beautiful in their own way.

A few years ago while exploring my Island paradise, I ran across the smallest library I have ever seen. I just had to stop and check it out. I couldn't believe that it really was a library but it was indeed, complete with a librarian. I just happened to have a copy of my Desert Heat, Cabin Fever and Emails from the Edge with me in the car because my good friend and author and world-class promoter Janet Elaine Smith taught me to never leave home without a couple of copies of my books just in case I needed them. I asked the librarian if I could donate my books to the library and she gladly said yes. Sooooo ... if you are ever in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, stop by the Sunny Isle Public Library and look for my books.

Oh by the way, Janet, if you are reading this you will be happy to know that I also donated a copy of one of YOUR books that I just happened to have on hand. You will know which one if you look closely at the picture below. :)

Do you Kindle?

To Kindle? Or not to Kindle? That is the question.

Unless you have had your head stuck in the sand for the last couple of years, you know what a Kindle is. For those of you who HAVE had your head in the sand, a Kindle is Amazon.com's e-book reader.

The Kindle is different than other e-book readers. You can order a book from Amazon's Kindle Store and it is downloaded automatically to your reader through Whispernet. Whispernet is wireless coverage through Sprint's 3-G high speed data network. Your reader does not have to be connected to your computer for Amazon to download your book. It is all automatic once you place your order. You do not pay extra for Whispernet. It is included in the price of the Kindle.

The Kindle can hold over 1500 books. It is as thin as a pencil and weighs only 10.2 ounces. The look of the printed page of the book on the Kindle is great! It looks like reading a "real" book ... a paperback book that is. Kindle books ARE "real" books.

Can you imagine carrying 1500 books with you when you go on vacation? It would be an almost impossible feat to lug that many paperbacks with you on that trip to the Carribean or whatever exotic port of call where you are traveling but you can do so with your Kindle.

The Kindle is expensive, or at least I think so. It costs $359.00 and if you want a cover for your Kindle, that is a separate purchase. I do recommend getting the cover though. It not only protects your Kindle but makes it easier to hold while reading. The cover that I have is the Amazon Kindle Leather Cover for $29.99.

Yes, I finally broke down and purchased my very own Kindle after they came out with the Kindle 2 version. And guess what? I LOVE it! My husband calls me Ms. Kindle because my Kindle has become one of my treasured possessions. I don't leave home without it!

I have 4 of my own books published in the Kindle version which you can purchase for download to YOUR Kindle: Desert Heat, Cabin Fever, No Lady and Her Tramp, and Emails from the Edge: The Life of an Expatriate Wife.

Check out my Amazon Kristie Leigh Maguire Page.

Amazon.com rankings - does anyone understand the system?

I have never understood the sales rankings that Amazon.com posts for books. I know that the lower the number the higher the ranking. I use to think it was the other way around, the higher the number the better the ranking but that is not the case. I don't know what it means when there is no ranking at all posted by a book. Does this mean that the book hasn't even sold 1 copy on Amazon?

I have also never understood how Amazon comes up with their list of best-selling books under genres and even sub-genres (i.e. romance, then with the sub-genre of sensual romance which is the category that I write).

Just today I did a search under Amazon Kindle books (I have 4 of my titles released in the Kindle version) for sensual romance. My novel Desert Heat is listed as Number 15 and my novel Cabin Fever is listed as Number 21 out of 119 books on the BEST SELLING sensual romance books list.

However when I go to the Amazon Kindle pages for Desert Heat and Cabin Fever, there are no sales rankings listed. Does this mean that NO copies of those books have been sold? If that is the case how are they Number 15 and Number 21 on the Best-Selling Sensual Romance Books at the Amazon Kindle Store?

When I did the same search but had it sorted by RELEVANCE instead of BEST SELLING, my Cabin Fever book came up as Number 1 and my Desert Heat book came up as Number 6.

As I said, it is all a mystery to me. I have never found anyone who understands the system. I have an author friend who knows someone who works for Amazon. According to the friend of my friend, even Amazon doesn't understand how their system works. Do YOU?

Congrats to winners of Cabin Fever

FREE autographed copies of CABIN FEVER

I am offering 3 autographed copies of my novel, CABIN FEVER, at LibraryThing.com. CABIN FEVER is the 2nd novel in my Affairs of the Heart series.

Description: The beautiful and sexy Marcie Treyhorne is a steel magnolia who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. Marcie's story began in DESERT HEAT. Her saga continues in CABIN FEVER. Marcie leaves the blistering heat of the desert but the searing passion she carries to the northern Nevada mountains will melt the deepest of winter snows.

Author Janet Elaine Smith states, "...the ending is a twist that will hit you like a runaway train! You won't want to miss this one!"

The 1st novel in the series, DESERT HEAT, was voted "Romance of the Year" and Kristie Leigh Maguire was voted "Best Up and Coming Author of the Year" by the Affaire de Coeur Reader/Writer Poll.
