Countdown Bargain: Emails from the Edge: When Friendship Spans the Distance by Kristie Leigh Maguire @KLMaguire

This book is bargain priced from 01/03/2014 until 01/10/2014 in US and UK. Price is: .99 2 levels
Emails from the Edge defies today’s world of political correctness where every word is carefully censored so as not to offend anyone. Kristie Leigh Maguire is open, honest, and sometimes over-the-top funny in her email correspondence with her friend back in the States with whom she shares her thoughts and feelings while living overseas as an expatriate wife during the decade of the 90s. Emails from the Edge, gives the reader the feeling of being a voyeur, pulling back the curtain of friendship, and finding out they are not just talking about milk and cookies.
USA Today Bestselling Author Rebecca Forster had this to say, “A bold, honest look at how two cultures collide and lessons learned. Some may think KLM politically incorrect; I say she is courageous to share her honest feelings and inner thoughts. It is really gutsy and fascinating.”

Targeted Age Group: adult
Author Bio:
Kristie and her husband have lived all over the United States and many foreign countries while following his career. While living in Japan in 1997, she found it very difficult to find books to read that were written in English. This situation was intolerable as she was an avid reader and had been known to resort to reading cereal boxes if nothing else was available. Have you ever tried to read a cereal box written in Japanese? It was not a pretty picture. Ms. Maguire began writing her own books just to have something to read. She discovered a new passion in writing.
Although Kristie is originally from the South and will always remain Southern at heart, she and her husband live in Nevada. During her expatriate years she lived in St. Croix, Aruba, Thailand, Japan and three times in Saudi Arabia as well as visiting many other countries.

Desert Heat: What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas
Kristie Leigh Maguire presents the ultimate in ultra-sensual modern day romance. She takes you "beyond the kiss" without crossing that tenuous line between eroticism and vulgarity. Her characters are real everyday, ordinary people, not impossibly created heroes and heroines who could only be real in the pages of your average romance novel.

Don't expect the typical romance story with this novel. There are no shrinking violets or shy maiden virgins who long to be taken against their will in Desert Heat. Marcie is a savvy businesswoman who knows what she wants and is willing to go against the odds to get it.

Emails from the Edge - Kindle Exclusive

Emails from the Edge defies today's world of political correctness where every word is carefully censored so as not to offend anyone.

Back Cover Blurb:
Saipan is a tropical island with clear blue waters, sandy beaches, tropical flowers, swaying palm trees, gentle breezes and warm and friendly Micronesian South Pacific natives - plus the added bonus of being a U.S. territory with American goods in the stores and with American money as the local currency.  What more could a girl ask for?

All of the Japanese people on the tour were oooohing and ahhhhing over all the duty free shops and souvenirs. I was in the local version of Wal-Mart, oooohing and ahhhhing over shampoo and conditioner, body lotion, Pepto Bismol, Tylenol and Motrin  - and generally running wild through the aisles like a crazy woman!

I got up before dawn each day and sat out on my balcony by myself while my husband slept. As I watched the sun come up, peace flooded my soul.  That old church song, "Precious
Memories", kept playing itself in my mind like Daddy used to sing it in church.  I sat out there and watched the colors tint the clouds and the ocean waters while the refrain of "Precious memories, unseen angels, how they ever flood my soul, in the stillness of the midnight, precious memories scenes unfold" played over and over in my head.

I was reborn.  I found myself again.  I knew that I was on the edge but I had not realized how close I had come to losing myself till that moment.

Have you even wanted to eavesdrop on a conversation between friends just to see what they are thinking?

Well, Kristie Leigh Maguire gives you that opportunity.

This is the real life conversations that occurred between friends when one of them was in Japan. It carries you through all the drama, hardships and laughter that the author went through in trying to adjust to life as an American in a foreign country.

If you ever thought it would be fun to "hack" into someone's email to see what makes them tick, this is your chance.

You will laugh, cry and laugh again at the trials and tribulations that an American in Japan would go through.

I recommend that you join the author and her friend in their lives.....well, just eavesdrop on them.

is the actual correspondence between an expatriate wife and a Houston housewife who laughed and cried as they shared each other's life on-line almost every day for seven months. You will laugh and cry also as you read this story of deep friendship and understanding. I highly recommend Emails from the Edge to anyone who has at any time dreaded grocery shopping or spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.

Kristie Leigh Maguire Participates in Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale

Smashwords is kicking off their annual July Summer/Winter sale. It's summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and winter on the southern end of the globe, so what better excuse than to have a sale for beach reads and fireplace reads.

Author Kristie Leigh Maguire has thrown her books into the mix for the Sale. She has made all 5 of her titles free with a coupon code for the duration of the sale which goes through the month of July.

Desert Heat: Affairs of the Heart (Book One) - coupon code LD33B
From the scorching sun of the Mojave Desert to the brilliant neon lights of Las Vegas, the sexy steel magnolia Marcie Treyhorne blazes a trail of passion through the desert sands. Her heart is torn in half as her desire for her new boss grows into a raging inferno while her love for her longtime husband remains as steadfast as the ancient desert mountains that surround Mojave Junction, California.

Cabin Fever: Affairs of the Heart (Book Two) - coupon code WF28P
The beautiful and sexy Marcie Treyhorne is a steel magnolia who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. Marcie's story began in DESERT HEAT. Her saga continues in CABIN FEVER. Marcie leaves the blistering heat of the desert but the searing passion she carries to the northern Nevada mountains will melt the deepest of winter snows.

No Lady and Her Tramp - coupon code KM83L
A quirky hysterically hilarious read that is down and dirty! No Lady and Her Tramp is one woman’s accounting of the trials, tribulations, and antics of her life in President Park, a run down trailer park in Grapevine, Kentucky. The steamy, very descriptive sex puts Harold Robbins’ books to shame. The one thing Mr. Robbins’ books did not have is the humor that illuminates in this work of art.

Second Chances - coupon code UP73J
Set in rural Wyoming, Second Chances is a sweet contemporary western romance that will warm your heart. Mike Farley stomped on Jane Porter's heart with his cowboy boots. When he realized he had made the biggest mistake of his life, could he ever get it back the way it should be? Is it ever too late for love? Is it ever too late for second chances?

Emails from the Edge: Memoirs of an Expat Wife - coupon code CE87V
Kristie Leigh Maguire defies today’s world of political correctness in her memoirs as an expatriate wife during the turbulent decade of the 90s. Through emails with her friend in the States, KLM gives us a raw and brutally honest look at her experiences. In a way it is like being a voyeur, pulling back the curtain of friendship, and finding out they are not just talking about milk and cookies.

Emails from the Edge: Memoirs of an Expat Wife

Kristie Leigh Maguire defies today's world of political correctness in Emails from the Edge, her memoirs as an expatriate wife during the turbulent decade of the 90s. Her lifeline with the "real world" was emails with her friend back in the States. By sharing excerpts of these emails with the world, KLM presents a raw and brutally honest look at her experiences in a land where she could not speak the language and in a culture very unfamiliar to her in all aspects. In a way it is like being a voyeur, pulling back the curtain of friendship, and finding out they are not just talking about milk and cookies. People may not gush over this book but it will make them stop and think...or it should.

Take a deep look within as you read Emails from the Edge in the comfort of surroundings that are familiar to you. Could you have handled the situation any better if you had been in KLM's shoes? Maybe. Maybe not.

USA Today Bestselling Author Rebecca Forster had this to say, "A bold, honest look at how two cultures collide and lessons learned. Some may think KLM politically incorrect; I say she is courageous to share her honest feelings and inner thoughts. It is really gutsy and fascinating."

Kindle for PC now available at Amazon.com

Got a Kindle? I do. I purchased mine several months ago and really enjoy it. It is a fantastic reader. I bought mine on Ebay and got a fairly decent price for it and saved a few bucks off the list price at Amazon.com. Then Amazon started dropping their price for their Kindle until it was well below the price that I paid for mine even on Ebay.

Now Amazon.com has released a FREE download of Kindle for your PC. I thought the purpose of having the Kindle was to be able to cut the strings from your computer for reading ebooks.

Oh well. I broke down and downloaded my free copy of Kindle for PC this morning. Looks great and it is syncronized with my Kindle reader. Now I have the best of both worlds.

Want the free download of Kindle for PC for yourself? Here's the link:

Don't forget that I have my books (Desert Heat, Cabin Fever, No Lady and Her Tramp, and Emails from the Edge: The Life of an Expatriate Wife) available for your Kindle at the very reasonable price of $3.99 each. You can even sign up for a monthly subsription to this blog, Sizzling Hot Romance, for only 99 cents a month.

The smallest library I've ever seen

As many of you who follow me know, I have a foot in two worlds ... southern Nevada and St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. I have a condo in both places and divide my time between the two. Nevada is as different from St. Croix as night is from day. One is a tropical paradise and the other is a desert, both beautiful in their own way.

A few years ago while exploring my Island paradise, I ran across the smallest library I have ever seen. I just had to stop and check it out. I couldn't believe that it really was a library but it was indeed, complete with a librarian. I just happened to have a copy of my Desert Heat, Cabin Fever and Emails from the Edge with me in the car because my good friend and author and world-class promoter Janet Elaine Smith taught me to never leave home without a couple of copies of my books just in case I needed them. I asked the librarian if I could donate my books to the library and she gladly said yes. Sooooo ... if you are ever in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, stop by the Sunny Isle Public Library and look for my books.

Oh by the way, Janet, if you are reading this you will be happy to know that I also donated a copy of one of YOUR books that I just happened to have on hand. You will know which one if you look closely at the picture below. :)

Do you Kindle?

To Kindle? Or not to Kindle? That is the question.

Unless you have had your head stuck in the sand for the last couple of years, you know what a Kindle is. For those of you who HAVE had your head in the sand, a Kindle is Amazon.com's e-book reader.

The Kindle is different than other e-book readers. You can order a book from Amazon's Kindle Store and it is downloaded automatically to your reader through Whispernet. Whispernet is wireless coverage through Sprint's 3-G high speed data network. Your reader does not have to be connected to your computer for Amazon to download your book. It is all automatic once you place your order. You do not pay extra for Whispernet. It is included in the price of the Kindle.

The Kindle can hold over 1500 books. It is as thin as a pencil and weighs only 10.2 ounces. The look of the printed page of the book on the Kindle is great! It looks like reading a "real" book ... a paperback book that is. Kindle books ARE "real" books.

Can you imagine carrying 1500 books with you when you go on vacation? It would be an almost impossible feat to lug that many paperbacks with you on that trip to the Carribean or whatever exotic port of call where you are traveling but you can do so with your Kindle.

The Kindle is expensive, or at least I think so. It costs $359.00 and if you want a cover for your Kindle, that is a separate purchase. I do recommend getting the cover though. It not only protects your Kindle but makes it easier to hold while reading. The cover that I have is the Amazon Kindle Leather Cover for $29.99.

Yes, I finally broke down and purchased my very own Kindle after they came out with the Kindle 2 version. And guess what? I LOVE it! My husband calls me Ms. Kindle because my Kindle has become one of my treasured possessions. I don't leave home without it!

I have 4 of my own books published in the Kindle version which you can purchase for download to YOUR Kindle: Desert Heat, Cabin Fever, No Lady and Her Tramp, and Emails from the Edge: The Life of an Expatriate Wife.

Emails from the Edge and KINDLE

My book, Emails from the Edge: The Life of an Expatriate Wife, is having a great ride down the Amazon.com River. Since its rebirth as a KINDLE edition, Emails from the Edge has been experiencing a new life and has found many more readers. This is very heart-warming to me because this is my memoirs book which went out of publication as a paperback a few years ago. This just goes to show that you CAN teach an old book new tricks! You go, Emails from the Edge!

A true story, the friendship between these two women shines… The writing is real and down to earth, as only emails to good friends can be. An excellent read." -- Annette Gisby, author of “Silent Screams”"You will laugh and cry…as you read this story of deep friendship and understanding. I highly recommend (it)…"
-- Joan Moore Lewis, Southern Fiction Author, Georgia USA

"You’ll learn a lot about the Far East…and also learn what life is like for U.S. workers abroad…but what you will remember about this book, and would not find in any more conventional ‘travel story,’ is the friendship that prompted its e-mails. Highly recommended!" -- Nina M. Osier, author of "Love, Jimmy: A Maine Veteran's Longest Battle"
