Christie Kelley - romance writer

From Christie Kelley's website:
Christie Kelley was born and raised in upstate New York. As a child, she always had a vivid imagination and the bad dreams that go along with it, or perhaps the dreams were caused by the five brothers and three sisters she lived with. After seventeen years working for financial institutions in software development, she took a leap of faith and started her first book. Seven years later, her first book EVERY NIGHT I’M YOURS was bought by Zebra books. She now lives in Maryland with her husband and two future romance heroes.

  2. Thanks so much for dropping by, Christie!

I have a couple of questions for you.

What is your writing method? Are you a "by the seat of your pants writer" or do you plot?

Do you have a favorite time of the day (or night) that you prefer to write?

  3. My writing method :) Squeeze it in when I can!

Seriously, I have no choice but to plot since I sell on proposal now. Thankfully, I have yet to be forced to follow my synopsis completely. I am definitely more of a pantser and like to let the characters go where they need to go. Sometimes that just won't come out until you start writing the book.

As far as writing time, normally mid-morning. I get up at 6am and get the kids to school. So by 8ish, I'm ready to start writing. I am not a night person so there is no point in me trying to write then.

    Thanks for the questions!

  4. I am a pantser by nature too, Christie. I am glad to know that you prefer that method too although I understand you having to plot now that you're selling on proposal.

I recently bought The Marshall Plan Writing Software. It makes one plot. I am giving it a try hoping to break my pantser habit or at least not be so completely by the seat of my pants. Maybe I will use a combination of both.

I write best about mid-morning too. After I get through with my emails and online stuff and quit procrastinating and make myself get with it. I need lots of coffee while writing.

May you sell a million and thanks so much for dropping by here, Christie!

    Best,
    Kristie Leigh Maguire
